So after a rather indulgent Christmas and New Year, I’ve embarked upon my annual cleanse. A much needed effort to lose weight and get in shape. I’m also 43 in a few days’ time and middle age is taking its toll.
To give you some background it might help to understand a little about my lifestyle. I’m a software developer by day so spend much of my time sat down at work. I do regular exercise. Circuit training / HIIT twice a week regularly for nearly 2 years, I walk the dog twice a day and I run at least once a week! I don’t smoke, I drink probably too much and I eat well.
Unfortunately, while I’m reasonable active, someone needs to tell my waistline. My weight has been creeping up for months now and I’ve just tipped over 16.5 stone. Time to take action!
So as is usual this time of the year I’ve ditched the alcohol. I’ve not had a drink since New Year ’s Eve and already I’m feeling better.
I’m trying to reduce my portions too and still getting plenty of exercise but I’ve also stumbled across something else and it was tucked at the back of my cupboard! Cumin!
I was watching a program on the TV and they we’re investigating the weight loss effects of Cumin. A recent study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25456022) showed that eating a teaspoon of cumin everyday can have the same effect as taking prescription weight loss medication without any of the side effects.
I’ve been taking Cumin now for 2 days and already feeling the benefits. I’m not craving food, I’ve lost a few pounds and I generally feel great.
My recipe for this (not quite delicious) treat is:
1 teaspoon of cumin
1 desert spoons of natural yogurt
1 spoon of honey
You can add a twist of lemon as well which is nice.
If your not quite up for eating Cumin for breakfast then you can make a nice cup of tea with it. Simply take some Cumin seeds (at least a few spoons) and boil in a few cups of water for 10 minutes and then strain into a cup and enjoy!
I’m tracking my weight with my Nokia Body + Scales (Nokia Body+) which give a breakdown of body compositions, weight, fat water etc. so I will keep posting back with my results over the next few weeks.
If you’ve tried cumin I’d love to hear back so please post in the comments below.Trueinspiredliving.com
